I am just as happy with Bader Martin, P.S as I am disappointed with th....    03/16/2009

First off Bader Martin as a company is very impressive. They really know their stuff, the people working there are amazing, and I am always welcomed with open arms when I arrive. They found things in my taxes that I didn’t even know I could write off and with that I saved myself and my company a ton of money. If you own or operate a large company and just don’t know a lot about taxes, I would 100% suggest Bader Martin as the place to go to get them done. You will not be disappointed.

Now for the down side to Bader Martin. I didn’t realize it until I got my bill, but I ended up paying more to them for their services than the amount I paid to the government in taxes. The reasoning, Bader Martin just like every other tax firm, “if you didn’t already know” charges by the hour. Now I am not apposed to paying hourly for services, but with Bader Martin, you never really know what you are going to pay. Who is working on them, who signed off on it, what do you mean I am also paying to talk to you over the phone and over email. Is this a joke? Even when I went in on the first day, half of the time I was talking about my taxes and the other half of the time I was just talking about whatever. My day, my family, work, the weather, but no one told me I was being charged for that. If I had known, my meeting would have been 2 minutes. Instead, I was there just chatting it up for almost an hour. Also, who is working on my taxes. One guy charges $175 and hour, another at over $400, another at $250 and so on. Why cant I have the less expensive guy work on my taxes, why does the $400 an hour guy have to do them? And them why am I not told of this until I get my bill. Just not expectable my any means. Even when I have a simple question and write an email to my guy, I find out later that I am being charged for their answer. How dishonest is that? Just not kewl by any means.

In the end, if you have the money and don’t mind being a little taken, Bader Martin is for sure the place to go. But if you can do them yourself, I highly suggest giving it a shot.
