Good ol' Comcast, why can’t you just always be honest with your customers all the time.    02/01/2009

So I just moved into a new apartments, which I love by the way, and I needed to set up Comast for my internet and TV. I called in to set up my new services but at the end of the call I am told that my monthly bill was going to be around $120. I was completely shocked. A friend of mine not more than 2 blocks from me has the same services that I asked for but only pays about $60. I called back Comcast and the new rep told me there was nothing he could do. These were the new rates and there were no specials going on at the time so I would just have to deal with the new rates. Now not more than 2 days later I went on the Comast website to take a look at some info and what do I see, Comast services on discount for $60. $29.95 for the cable and $29.95 for internet. So I called up Comcast to ask what was going on and to which over to this new discounted rate. The person on the other line told me that that was not a rate they offered when calling in. You could only get that rate if you ordered your service online. Now how dishonest is that. I should be able to get the same rate whether I order it online or over the phone. Now I understand that the cost of operation is less online than talking to someone in person, but Comcast’s cost of operation doesn’t go up or down whether or not I order it online versus over the phone. Only that they make less money if I order it online. So why not just offer their services to their customers at the same rate whether online or not. I just think this is a very dishonest way to do business. Now I still have Comcast as a service provider as I have no other choices, but if I did, I would for sure not have chosen Comcast and I would be working with another company for sure.
