Advertising Account Executive 02/02/2009I worked at For Rent for nearly two years as a sales/account rep. The pay was good when the apartment market was in decline. But the determiniation of which Account Exec gets significant accounts is wholly up to the General Manager - and that decision can sometimes be slanted. The other reps ranged; some were really fun and professional, others were allowed to run amok, which ruined the otherwise professional atmosphere. With misbehaving account execs comes a reputation for less-than-serious sales, and it was reflected back by customers' attitude towards the publication as a whole when the market changed. Overall, this company has a really good history, but all great companies are committed to the future; I did not witness that committment from the product development group at For Rent. Which is too bad; they have everything it takes to be a great change agent in media use in the rental industry. Finally, the Denver office's reputation needs some polishing after a lot of turnover and management changes.
