My very first job ever was for the Seattle Times as a paper boy when I was just 13 years old.    02/01/2009

I was super happy to get the job with the Seattle Times but even luckier to get the route that was on my own block. I worked for the Seattle Times for only 3 months but the reason I was fired is hilarious. So I just thought I would share. One morning just like every other morning, I woke up at 6:00am to go do my route. I always wake up, get dressed, go out the front door, stuff my papers and do my route. After I’m done, I go back inside, take a short hour nap, then go out the back door to go to school. That day’s delivery for the Seattle Times went just as well as any other day. Only took me 30 minutes or so. But when I got home this time, there was a message on the answering machine. "Hey David, one of your customers called today and didn’t receive his paper. Can you drop one off at his house? Thank you." Next massage, "Hey David, I got another call from someone else missing their paper, can you drop one off at his house as well" Next call, "Hey David, it doesn’t look like anyone received their papers this morning, I need this taken care of right now." In the end I had about a half dozen calls. So I run out my front door to see what is going on with the idea that maybe I did miss a few papers. And what do I see at my door step, all 40 plus issues of the Seattle Times I was suppose to deliver that morning. I had dreamt the whole thing up. So I quickly got on my bike and delivered the papers. The next morning I was fired from the Seattle Times by my boss who when I told the story about what had happened the day before, couldn’t stop laughing at how funny it was. Anyways, that is the end of my story. I was only 13 years old and had been fired from my very first job. Oh well, life goes on.
